Faculty Retreat on Roofing

Arizona State University’s Del. E. Webb School of Construction

Oct. 9-12, 2022 ~ ASU/Tempe, AZ

The Roofing Alliance and Arizona State University’s Del E. Webb School of Construction are offering a second retreat for full-time faculty members interested in the role of roofing in construction management.  The event will be held Oct. 9-12 at the Del E. Webb School of Construction in Tempe, AZ.

 

The Retreat on Roofing is designed for faculty members who are interested in learning about the roofing industry and roofing-specific issues, best practices, and career opportunities. In addition, the Retreat will include a number of workshops on how best to engage and instruct students, led by ASU faculty.

 

The Retreat will officially begin with an informal dinner on Sunday evening, Oct. 9; please plan to arrive by 6 p.m. The retreat concludes with a dinner and recognition ceremony on Wednesday evening, Oct. 12; a preliminary agenda also is attached.

 

Travel, lodging and most meal expenses will be provided by the Roofing Alliance. The schedule will also be built to allow for a variety of social and networking opportunities with roofing industry partners

 

Roofing workshops will include an overview of roofing fundamentals; green buildings and sustainability; building and energy code issues; safety; key issues in roof design and career opportunities in the roofing industry. In addition, a workshop will feature the new nine-credit-hour certificate program that has been developed at Clemson University on roofing, presented by Dr. Dhaval Gajjar.

 

Attendance will be limited, and attendees will be asked to demonstrate the following:

 

  • Must be full-time faculty members at an ACCE-accredited school of construction management.

  • Must have an expressed interest in the roofing industry and submit a letter showing that interest with his/her application.

  • Must provide a letter of commitment for their attendance from their program chair.
