The 2022 Midyear Conference will be a historical event for ACCE as we join two of our industry partners, the American Institute of Constructors (AIC) and the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) along with their Education Foundation (NEF), for the first-ever Construction Education Consortium (CEC)!  This event will start on February 23, 2022, and the last meetings will occur on February 26, 2022.

As we begin the Summer of 2021, let’s all remember the individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country on this Memorial Day weekend.  I am incredibly proud and thankful for our freedom that these people helped to ensure we all have as US citizens.

By now, you should have learned that our ACCE Annual Conference will once again be held using Zoom virtual technology.

Ever since the end of the Annual Conference, ACCE has been busy assembling all of the follow-up letters and correspondence based on the decisions made by the board and the planning of the Visiting Teams for this Fall semester.  In this edition of The ACCElerator, we will provide highlights of the past AnnualConference, plans for the upcoming Midyear Conference in February 2022, and other miscellaneous announcements.

The primary agenda item of our Executive Committee meeting on Thursday, April 22nd, was to decide if our 2021 Annual Conference would be held Face-to-Face (F2F) or if we would once again have a virtual conference.  The recent Survey Monkey poll results support our decision to go with a virtual conference once again.  There is not an overwhelming amount of support for the F2F format.  The “coin-toss” question in the poll was 54% for a virtual conference with 46% for the F2F Conference.

What a Historic...

The massive winter storm that blew into Texas the day before our Conference started certainly created a challenge!  However, the constant irregularly timed power shut-downs and the record-breaking freezing temperatures didn’t hamper our ability to conduct our Conference.

To effectively communicate how the Candidate Program works, one of our ACCE brochures has been re-designed. The updated format includes information about each step in the process, fees (amount and timing), as well as a streamlined timeline that has been reduced to approximately two years versus four to five years.  The new brochure illustrates how ACCE has become more responsive to its candidate programs and more efficient with our accreditation process utilizing OneDrive and our Mentor Program.
