As part of our continued communication effort, we are highlighting specific accredited programs within the ACCE system. These are randomly selected schools, professional development programs, and workforce initiatives. Hopefully, this will help the ACCE community develop an even greater appreciation for the efforts made in accreditation, reaccreditation, and certification.

Program Highlight: Michigan State University Construction Management A Tradition of Excellence, Powered by ACCE Accreditation. Published by the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE)  Michigan State University’s Construction Management Program is a national leader in preparing students for careers in the ever-evolving built environment. Housed in the School of Planning, Design and Construction, the program combines cutting-edge instruction with real-world experience, bolstered by its longstanding accreditation from the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE). |

A Legacy That Builds Leaders
Founded in 1855, Michigan State University is one of the nation’s premier land-grant institutions and a member of the Big Ten Academic Alliance. Originally established as the Agricultural College of the State of Michigan, it was the first institution of higher learning in the U.S. to teach scientific agriculture. MSU has since grown into a global research university with over 50,000 students and a proud tradition of excellence in science, engineering, and design.
Fun fact: MSU was a founding member of the land-grant university system and was used as a model when the Morrill Act was signed in 1862.
Â
At the heart of Michigan’s vibrant construction and development industry is a powerhouse of talent and innovation—the Construction Management (CM) program at Michigan State University. Housed within the School of Planning, Design and Construction, MSU’s CM program has long stood as a model of academic rigor, professional readiness, and industry engagement. As one of the earliest construction programs in the Midwest, it continues to grow and evolve, anchored by its accreditation through the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE).

ACCE Accreditation Sets the Standard
MSU’s Construction Management program has been ACCE-accredited for over 25 years, ensuring that its curriculum stays aligned with industry needs. Accreditation affirms the program’s commitment to continuous improvement, professional competency, and ethical leadership—hallmarks that have made its graduates highly sought after by employers nationwide.
Â
Innovative Education Meets Hands-On Experience
The MSU Construction Management program emphasizes a balance between classroom learning and hands-on experience. Students are involved in service-learning projects and national industry student competitions, such as the ABC Construction Management Competition and NAHB’s Residential Construction Management Competition (RCMC).  The MSU residential teams have won the competition multiple times and have finished in the top five in the last six of the previous seven competitions!

Graduate Success & Industry Impact
With job placement rates consistently above 95%, MSU CM graduates go on to work for top general contractors, construction firms, and developers. Many participate in research initiatives and internships that bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical leadership.
The program also benefits from a strong advisory board and extensive alumni network, helping students stay connected and industry-ready. The MSU CM Career Day is a sell-out every time, with over 30 companies participating.
Â
Looking Ahead
With a continued focus on innovation and excellence in construction education, Michigan State’s CM program is poised for even greater impact. Whether through expanded research opportunities, global learning experiences, or new pathways into construction tech, the program remains committed to preparing the next generation of construction leaders.
Â
The American Council for Construction Education is proud to spotlight Michigan State University’s Construction Management program—a community of educators, students, and industry partners working together to elevate the standards of our profession.
