Mr. Charlie Roesset

Director of Training | Simpson Strong-Tie

Charlie Roesset is a renowned figure in the construction industry, known for his significant contributions to both Simpson Strong-Tie and the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE). With a career spanning several decades, Roesset has left an indelible mark on the field through his innovative ideas, leadership, and commitment to education.



Roesset began his construction career at Stripling & Blake lumber in Austin Tx, in 1980. He joined Simpson Strong-Tie (SST), a leading company specializing in structural connectors, fasteners, and software for the construction industry. Joining the company in early 1990, he quickly rose through the ranks, showcasing his dedication and expertise. Roesset's passion for construction and his strong analytical skills allowed him to make valuable contributions to the company's product development and engineering practices.


During his time at Simpson Strong-Tie, Roesset played a crucial role in the development of innovative products that revolutionized the construction industry. His work focused on improving the safety and structural integrity of buildings, ensuring that structures could withstand seismic and wind forces. Roesset's contributions to Simpson Strong-Tie included the design, developement and testing of various connectors and fasteners, as well as contributing to the development of advanced software tools for structural design. Charlie is currently the Director of Training at SST.

Beyond his work at Simpson Strong-Tie, Roesset also dedicated himself to advancing construction education internationally. He became actively involved with the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) in 1996, an organization committed to promoting excellence in construction education. Roesset has served as a board member of ACCE and played a pivotal role in shaping the organization's initiatives. He has also served as the ACCE Board Chair from 2021-2023.

Roesset's involvement with ACCE allowed him to influence construction education at a broader level. He advocated for curriculum development that emphasized the integration of theory and practice, ensuring that students were equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the industry. Roesset also worked closely with academic institutions and industry professionals to bridge the gap between education and real-world construction practices.

Under Roesset's guidance, ACCE expanded its accreditation program pioneering the addition of Workforce Education Program Accreditation. Ensuring that construction education programs met high standards of quality and relevance is important to Charlie. His dedication to improving construction education and fostering collaboration between academia and industry has had a lasting impact on the field, helping to produce a new generation of skilled professionals.


Today, Charles Roesset's legacy continues to shape the construction industry. His innovative contributions to Simpson Strong-Tie have made buildings safer and more resilient, while his efforts with ACCE have elevated the standards of construction education. Roesset's commitment to excellence and his vision for the future of the industry have left an enduring mark, inspiring others to follow in his footsteps and push the boundaries of construction innovation and education.
