ACCE Board of Trustees
Member Spotlight: Marjorie Chang — Professional Development, Educational Advocacy, and Community Engagement

Marjorie Chang has established herself as a highly respected leader within the construction industry through her commitment to professional development, educational advocacy, and community engagement. Her involvement with the American Council for Construction Education (ACCE) and Washington State University’s Construction Management Industry Advisory Board reflects a career dedicated not only to advancing the built environment but also to shaping the next generation of construction professionals.
Building Strategic Relationships
As Director of Business Development for Hoffman Construction, Marjorie has become known for building strategic relationships across architecture, engineering, construction, and commercial real estate communities throughout the Pacific Northwest. Her industry leadership aligns closely with ACCE’s mission to promote excellence in construction education and strengthen the connection between academia and industry practice. ACCE, widely recognized as the leading accrediting organization for construction education programs, depends heavily on engaged industry professionals to ensure that construction management curricula remain aligned with evolving workforce demands and real-world project delivery.

Marjorie’s role as a Practitioner Trustee with ACCE demonstrates the level of confidence the construction education community places in her leadership and professional perspective. In this capacity, she represents industry stakeholders who help guide the organization’s strategic direction while supporting accreditation standards that prepare students for leadership roles in construction management. Her participation reflects ACCE’s emphasis on industry-informed education, mentorship, and workforce readiness.
A particularly meaningful aspect of Marjorie’s educational involvement is her service on Washington State University’s School of Design and Construction Advisory Boards (IABs), where she serves on both the central advisory board and the Construction Management Industry Advisory Board. These advisory boards play a critical role in helping WSU maintain strong alignment between academic programming and industry expectations. Board members advise faculty leadership on curriculum development, emerging industry trends, professional competencies, and workforce needs, while also helping students gain exposure to networking opportunities, internships, and career pathways. She is also a member of the Washington State University Foundation Board of Directors.
Through this involvement, Marjorie contributes practical industry insight gained from large-scale commercial construction projects and client development experience. Her participation helps ensure that WSU construction management students are prepared not only with technical knowledge but also with the leadership, communication, and collaboration skills increasingly demanded across today’s construction sector. Advisory board members also serve as advocates for experiential learning opportunities, industry partnerships, and professional engagement—all areas in which Marjorie has demonstrated consistent leadership.
Her work with WSU also highlights her commitment to strengthening the bridge between higher education and industry leadership. Construction management programs rely on active participation from professionals like Marjorie to maintain curriculum relevance amid rapid changes in technology, sustainability practices, workforce development, and project delivery methods. By contributing to these discussions, she helps shape the future of construction education in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
Industry Recognition Beyond the Industry

Beyond education and industry leadership, Marjorie has also distinguished herself through community-focused initiatives that promote workforce wellbeing and jobsite culture. As chair of the 2026 American Heart Association’s Puget Sound “Hard Hats with Heart” initiative, she will help champion conversations around mental health, cardiac emergency preparedness, and preventative wellness in the construction trades. Her advocacy underscores a growing recognition within the industry that leadership extends beyond project delivery to include the health and sustainability of the workforce itself.

Marjorie’s broader professional involvement further demonstrates her influence across the construction and development community. She serves in leadership roles with organizations connected to commercial real estate and industry advancement, including NAIOP Washington State. These roles complement her work with ACCE and WSU by reinforcing collaboration between developers, contractors, educators, and emerging professionals.
Collectively, Marjorie Chang’s contributions reflect the qualities that organizations like ACCE and Washington State University seek to cultivate in future construction leaders: industry expertise, collaborative leadership, educational advocacy, mentorship, and a commitment to improving both the profession and the people within it.
